SURRY FIRE SAFETY HOUSE!
In Mar Mac's effort to expand it's service to the public it serves, the SURRY
Fire Safety House will provide Safety and Fire Education to children and adults
through visits to schools and public access displays. Information and
demonstrations on how to protect lives when  fire or severe weather strike is
critical. Further information on this new arrival is being prepared and will be

Participants are seated and given information about the demonstration.
The room begins to fill with smoke from the on-board smoke generator.
When the room is completely filled with smoke, participants are taught how to make a safe exit.
Mar Mac Firemen assist each participant as they exit the SURRY House.
Exits are orderly as each participant waits his/her turn.
This is a demonstration of EDITH (Exit Drills In The Home).
Take home information is given to each participant.

The first public demonstration of Mar Mac Volunteer Fire Departments'
SURRY Fire Safety House were at Rosewood Elementary School on
June 17, 2009 and Calvary Baptist Church on July 11, 2009. Adults and
children who wished to participate registered before the demonstration
began. Participants went inside and the house was filled with smoke to
simulate a house fire. Each was shown how to exit the home safely and
was given take-home information.
